About Font Categories

We can find differences in the Serif fonts, the Sans Serif Fonts, the Script Fonts, the Decorative Fonts and the Dingbat Fonts.

We have to pay attention not to use two fonts from the same families, as it will confuse the reader. Serif Fonts are easier to read, so better for a much text. Decorative Fonts and Sans Serif Fonts and Script Fonts are good for empharsis a special title or part of text.

Assignment 1: From your font selection please choose two separate sets of contrasting typefaces. For each set create a small image showing the two fonts together and post them to the site. Make note of the basic font family that each one belongs to and at least 3 differences, in the anatomy of each set, that create contreast and visual interest.

Sounds easy, but was not lol

In the first image I inserted a font called Zamyatin from the family Sans Serif for the title. The text as also the writer's name was done by a Serif Font  called Calisto. The difference is the size of the letters, the arm-horizontal strokes between the serif and the sans serif font, the Ascender which one can see very well in the serif font, the ears and tails in the serif font. The rose who should tie all together a bit is done by a dingbat font called Davys.

In the second image I found a nice font for the title (like it better than the first picture title font) I think it belongs to the Decorative Fonts family. The name is Blue Moon. The text was set up again with a Serif Font called Garton. The red thing whatever it is lol, was also done by the dingbat font called Davys. Differences between the serif is seen by the counter inside...look at the o for example. In the decorative font it is more oval, in the serif font it is like a circle...

What I like here, is that in both fonts there are similar Finial...both goes in the same direction which gives some nice drive. What I dont like was my unability to add the name of the writer...it doesnt fit, although I tried several ways..I wanted to have it the same font like the text, but smaller, but then one couldnt read it anymore...so I left it out...
