There are four main ways to combine colors:
1. Monochromatic = one color in different values or intensities
2. Analogous = colors laying beside in the color wheel
3. Contrasting colors = opposite of each other...most one warm and one cold color together. Also here we can change value and intensity for to get a good harmony
4. Triadic = 3 opposite colors. Take care to get some harmony. Not too forceful.
Exercise one:
Find and post an appealing photograph. Create a color scheme using the dominant colors of the picture. Create a simple graphic that shows the colors from your color scheme as shapes or types elements.

They are analogous colors but different in value. The dominant color in this case is the darkest one. In the photo the purple one is the main color. As in reality the colors blue are the peaceful cold colors, very clear.

Note the color space, resolution and format, that would be best suited for each of the projects.
