Week 1- Where Is It Now? Tools, Materials Palette and File Formats

The Material Palette

The interface of the Materials palette has been made more compact and logical. You have now two swatches, the textures swatches have been replaced by a texture tab. You have dropdown below each swatch from which you can choose a solid colour, a gradient, or a pattern. To the right of the drop down you have two tabls which can be turned on or off. First the texture tab, which will apply a texture when you activate a texture in the texture swatch. The other one applies a null setting.

You have a favourite Swatches tab which will hold your favourite materials including pattern, gradients, texture as well as solid colour. To add the current foreground settings to your favourite swatches click the new Swatch tab and give it a name in the New Swatch dialog that pops up.

The Material Picker

PSP8 has bundled the colour picker, gradient editor, pattern palette and texture palette into one single tabbed palette, the Material picker. Any time you click on the back or foreground swatch the Material picker will appear with the settings applied to the current settings. You can apply a gradient, texture, oder solid colour.

Assignment for PSP 8 week 1:

we had just to explore the new interface and try to get a feel for it. Well I tried to use lasso tool, and layer palette and made this picture mixed from two different ones. Also I resized and pointed to my plugins so I could use Blade Pro for a frame:
