Week 2

Paint Shop Pro 8 Vector Tools

PSP 8 like PSP 7 has four tools on the Tool Palette for working with vector paths or objects. On the default workspace you can find it on the bottom of the toolbar

Text Tool, Prset Shape tool, the Pen tool and the Object selector tool. The first two we need for to create paths and the Object selector tool is used to make an existing path avaiable for editing. The pen tool has both functions.

The Preset Shape Tool

Open a new image with a transparent raster background. Now Preset Shape tool. Select shape you want to apply. Press left mouse button and draw

The Object Selector

In PSP 8 you are able to move the Object rotation pivot point. So you can define the center of rotation. Place your cursor over the pivot point and hold down Ctrl key. Drag it to a new position and let it go. By draging the Rotation handle the object will circle around the new pivot location (I loved to play with it!)

The Pen Tool

New addition to PSP 8 is the Pen Tool. It is the most complex vector tool. It is a vector creation tool as also an editing tool as it feplaces the old Node Editing mode.

When using the Pen Tool in Draw Mode you can change Line, form of line and so on. The you draw a line it will have nodes as you go. There are three different drawing options in the Segment Type area of th ePen Tool Options palette.

Line Segments allows a single straight line
Point to Point will allow to click for to create nodes. Well played around with this as also with single line, with point to point by drag and click for to get a curved line and later played with the knife mode. It did some strange things lol...I see I have to learn more about by practicing.

Drawing with Shapes

Well thats the result of all:

thanks to this wonderful understandable tutorial I came up with this at the end, after I used the vector shape tool and played with filters, at the end.

I really enjoyed this lesson from week 2!!
